Partners
Joyce Riggins Schaffer, CPA
Joyce is a CPA licensed in NC and VA. Joyce earned her accounting degree from The College of William & Mary in 1982. Before SBZ, she was the CEO of Malvin, Riggins + Company, P.C., which she founded in 1986. Over the years, Joyce has held leadership roles in numerous organizations, including the Rotary Club of Oyster Point, Hampton Roads Children’s Charities, Langley Civic Leaders Association, and the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. Since moving to the Outer Banks, Joyce has remained active in the community with the Rotary Club of First Flight and currently serves as the treasurer for the First Flight Rotary Foundation.
Deborah Mahler Baum, CPA
Debi is a CPA licensed in North Carolina, Maryland, and Pennsylvania with more than 35 years of experience. She holds degrees from Georgetown University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She splits her time between Kill Devil Hills and Ocracoke, and prefers water to land.
Mariia Zubach, CPA
Masha is a CPA licensed in North Carolina and the District of Columbia. Her degrees are from the National Aviation University of Ukraine and North Carolina State University. She enjoys spending beach time with her young family and attends a lot of baseball tournaments.

Natalie Rondan
Payroll Manager
Natalie lives in Kill Devil Hills with her husband and son. She has worked in payroll for over 10 years and earned her bachelor's degree in finance from Longwood University. Natalie just completed her Master of Accounting at North Carolina State University and plans to begin sitting for the CPA exam in 2026.
Kristin Kercheval
Payroll Specialist
Kristin became a part of the SBZ team just over a year ago, bringing with her more than a decade of experience in the retail industry. When she's not assisting clients with their payroll needs, she loves spending time with family and friends and soaking up the sun at the beach.
Hunter Haskett
Tax & Accounting Associate
Hunter grew up on the Outer Banks and returned home after earning a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Media from UNC-Chapel Hill. Since joining SBZ three years ago, she has completed a Master of Accounting at NC State University. She plans to begin sitting for the CPA exam in 2026.
